Caroline Viene

Caroline is currently exploring patination, surface texturing and patterning on metal. The color achieved with the Japanese patinas and the incorporation of stones to compliment the surface texturing.

In her art, the shapes and colors originate from her memories and  her imagination. She begins with sketches. This process is further enhanced by images in nature. Caroline incorporates precious and semi-precious stones, exotic hard woods, prehistoric ivories and natural treasures that she finds.

Caroline has worked as an independent metal smith for over twenty years and has participated in solo and group exhibits in museums and galleries throughout the United States. She holds a BA in Design from the University of Kansas and an MPA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
