Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show Turns 35 With Gala Celebration – Sisters Oregon

 The Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show turns 35
this year, and you're invited to the party!

When the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show
turns 35 this year it will celebrate with a a gala fundraiser,
Tuesday, July 6, 2010, from 5 to 8pm. Featured events include a
special Quilt Show retrospective, a silent auction, music and good
food, friendship and fun. Tickets are only $35 per person and the
proceeds will help support what has become the largest outdoor quilt
show in the world.

It all began when Jean Wells Keenan
decided to hang a dozen quilts made by her students outside her quilt
shop one Saturday in July, and over the past 35 years the Sisters
Outdoor Quilt Show has grown into an annual event that contributes an
estimated $1.7 million to the local economy, the equivalent of 26
jobs to the Sisters area, and donations since 2004 of over $50,000 to
various local charities, school and civic organizations in Sisters
and Central Oregon. The Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show is now a 501 (c)
3 non-profit organization that supports the community through a variety of fundraisers, auctions, and educational opportunities,
including the Quilters Affair Classes and Events, the Around The
Block Fiber Arts Stroll, and the Wish Upon a Card fundraiser.
